Enjoy History
Visit a unique chapel built with Medieval European stones
The Legacy Museum on Main, located in the heart of Downtown LaGrange, features exhibits dating back over 10,000 years. The West Georgia area is rich in history, and The Legacy Museum combines many eras of that history in a fantastic setting. Some highlights include a soapstone bowl that is over 11,000 years old, and the world’s oldest cotton bale! You’ll have to discover the rest for yourself! Admission is free, just bring a curious mind and your camera.
The oldest private college in Georgia, LaGrange College boasts nearly 200 years of history in architecture old and new, beautiful landscaping and the best vantage point in LaGrange from its location on “The Hill.” To visit campus, park at the corner of Broad Street and Park Avenue and head up the hill!
Enjoy fresh air and exercise at LaGrange’s downtown park. Southbend is a beautifully designed facility complete with huge playgrounds, a dog park and a Tony Hawk-designed skatepark. The park has a pavilion and plenty of seating and green space. It’s a wonderful place for a picnic, so order takeout from a downtown spot and enjoy it while you explore the park!

The best little art museum in Georgia, LaGrange Art Museum is housed in an iconic 1892 jail building, just a stone’s throw from the idyllic LaGrange square, eateries and shops. LaGrange Art Museum is filled with dynamic exhibitions by renowned and local artists. Collections of high caliber and visually-tantalizing artwork fills the galleries, making the museum a treat for visitors. And did we mention admission is free?
Downtown LaGrange offers a plethora of affordable restaurants and eclectic shops. Whether you’re just window shopping or looking for hidden treasure, LaGrange has something unique around every corner. Lafayette Square is particularly beautiful, boasting an incredible statue of Marquis de Lafayette, who inspired the name of LaGrange itself!
One of LaGrange’s newest treasures, The Thread features over 10 miles of paved trail, perfect for walking, biking or running with friends and family. This free community feature will take you through historic neighborhoods and past beautiful homes. If you’re lucky you might even run into a four-legged friend or two!
