She will speak about her most recent book, Into the Weeds: How to Garden Like a Forager, a sort of “anti-gardening” gardening book that reveals why even unplanted weeds are important for health, environment, and food. Ms. Wong will tell us precisely why this is so, and what forage gardening means to her personally.

On Sunday, October 19, Azalea Storytelling Festival and Hills & Dales Estate will host the 14th annual Stories in the Garden, a free storytelling event held beneath the canopy of the pecan grove. As a special treat, this year will feature two Appalachian storytellers, Kanute Rarey and Naomi Faw, who will delight with their fun, uplifting stories full of humor and charm. The afternoon will also include locally loved storyteller, Felicia Moore. The family-friendly entertainment will begin at 1:30pm with beautiful music from the Dulcimer Troupers and last until 4pm. Light refreshments will be provided. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for their comfort. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Visitor Center and seating will be limited.
