LaGrange, Ga. will kick off the holidays on November 21 with a festive holiday weekend as an ideal way to start the Christmas season. The charming downtown area and town square will be beautifully adorned for the season with dozens of Christmas trees, known as the Tinsel Trail, lights and holiday décor.
The weekend begins with the Holiday Sip and Shop on Friday, November 21 from 5 – 9 p.m. in Downtown LaGrange. Visitors and locals will enjoy strolling through the picturesque winter wonderland where local businesses will be decorated and offer extended hours for shopping. With the purchase of a commemorative Sip and Shop stemless wine glass, participants will receive wine refills at participating stores while shopping for the perfect gifts for everyone on their lists.
The weekend festivities continue Saturday, November 22, when families may enjoy ice skating at Sweetland on Ice, one of the area’s most popular holiday attractions. The 5,500-square-foot open-air ice rink at Sweetland Amphitheatre will offer skating from noon until 9 p.m., food, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, and a holiday movie. The ice-skating rink will be open until February and will host special events and activities throughout the season.
The town’s inaugural Tour de Tinsel, an evening 5K and 10K race stretching across LaGrange’s beautifully decorated neighborhoods, will start at 7 p.m. The race begins and concludes at Sweetland Amphitheatre. Runners will wind their way through some of LaGrange’s most majestic areas, including the Callaway Estate and the historic Hillside District. The Tour de Tinsel will benefit the non-profit Circles of Troup County and is a qualifier for the 2026 Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta.
Named by Explore Georgia as “one of eight small Georgia towns that do Christmas right,” LaGrange offers a blend of tradition and holiday spirit across its vibrant downtown. With downtown lodging and dining options, visitors may enjoy the charming downtown without a car and walk everywhere in the downtown area.
