Family History & Heritage Day

Delve into the treasures of your family’s past!

The Troup County Archives, in collaboration with Visit LaGrange, are hosting a Family History and Heritage Day on July 29, 2023. This unique occasion aims to unite the community in celebrating the shared history and heritage of the tens of thousands of families who have once or currently call LaGrange home. The event also supports the noble and ongoing work of preserving and expanding the archives, which are a true treasure to the local community.

The staff of Troup County Archives invites visitors to bring treasures of family history, be it a cherished family Bible, news articles recounting your grandparent’s wedding, photographs, birth and death records, and more. Oral histories, nostalgic stories passed down through generations, and even drawings relevant to family history are welcome as well. The Archives team hopes to preserve family legacies, uncover hidden stories and help people discover their roots.

A particular interest is being given regarding information about persons who are buried in unmarked graves at Mulberry Street Cemetery. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Troup County Archives on their social media, or at 706-884-1828.
