Alex Cuba, born Alexis Puentes in Cuba, is known for blending Spanish-language folk, funk, and rock with sugarcane-sweet melodies, pop-soul hooks, and powerful guitar riffs. His musical journey began early, joining his father’s group and later studying bass. After moving to Canada in 1999, he formed The Puentes Brothers and released his debut solo album in 2006, earning a Juno Award. His subsequent albums garnered international recognition, including two Latin Grammy Awards. Cuba’s music evolves with each release, exploring simplicity and soul in Cuban music, fusing it with North American influences, and collaborating with renowned artists.
